Please find a spot in both your heart and your home for one of our special animals. We are a no-kill, last resort animal refuge and will continue to take care of all of our animals until we find each of them a great home.
APEA provides vet care for all pets before placing them in their adoptive homes. All vaccinations are up to date at the time of the adoption and all pets are spayed or neutered before going home with their new family. Most of our rescued animals are altered by the time they are four months old. No adoption is final until the pet has been spayed or neutered.
Adoption requirements include:
- Completion of the adoption application
- A vet reference and/or personal reference
- A home visit by an APEA volunteer or by another rescue volunteer if the adopter lives too far away
- The adoption fee
APEA takes all pets back who do not, for whatever
reason, work out in their adoptive home.

This includes spay or neuter, parvo/distemper and rabies vaccinations, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care, deworming and flea treatments.
Cat & Kitten Adoption Fees
All Cats & Kittens - $50
This includes spay or neuter, deworming and flea treatments.

All dogs & cats are entitled to a FREE comprehensive health exam at Bienville Animal Medical Center within 7 days of adoption.
